Dog Sitter Shares Detailed List of Instructions—Complete With Photos

When it comes to dog sitting, it should be much easier than babysitting an actual child since there are no diapers or screaming involved. But after agreeing to look after a friend's dog, this woman came to realize that there is far more to it than just belly rubs and snoozing on the couch.

Pushti Ranpara, 26, first volunteered to look after Luna the Australian border collie in December 2023 while her friend went away for a couple of days. How hard could it be? Well, when she arrived to begin her important duties, she was given a lengthy list of instructions and reminders to cover just about everything that could possibly happen.

After seeing the dog-sitting list, Ranpara, from Toronto, Canada, told Newsweek that was surprised by it, but she loved how "funny and wholesome" her friend made it. The list certainly didn't put her off, and she was more than happy to take care of Luna again in March 2024.

The list of "instructions and commands" included details about Luna's all-important feeding schedule, where her frozen food is stored, essentials for walking her, and of course, where the treats are kept. The cheat sheet was undoubtedly thorough as it even included a diagram of all the nutrition required in Luna's meals.

Ranpara said: "So, both times, I was given instructions on how to take care of Luna and all the situations that could arise. Even though my friend was going to be on call anytime, she wanted me to have as much information as possible.

"The list was very handy in getting to know Luna's schedule and make the most of my time with her, and they were very easy to stick to. Being in marketing, my friend wrote the list so well and I thought TikTok would love it."

Thankfully for Ranpara, Luna is incredibly well-trained, and the dog sitter said that she's "the best dog niece" she could possibly ask for. Luna would get very excited whenever she realized it was mealtime, but mostly she just wanted to play with Ranpara and show off all her toys.

The list of demands and instructions kept Ranpara highly amused while she dog sat Luna, and she couldn't resist sharing it on her TikTok account (@tinyhungryhuman). The post has delighted many social-media users and has already been viewed over 237,000 times and gained more than 20,900 likes in a matter of days.

Ranpara has been amazed by the online response, as she told Newsweek: "People have shown Luna so much love and praised her parents for being so incredible. A lot of dog sitters said they wished all owners would give them a list like that. I'm so happy it could help other potential dog sitters around the world."

The viral post has already gained almost 300 comments at the time of writing, as many people lauded the idea of an instruction manual. One comment reads: "glad I'm not the only one that does this."

Another person wrote: "I need my clients to take notes! The more you know the better when being a pet caregiver or dog trainer!"

Another comment reads: "What a lovely dog parent. I would follow the list to a T. Enjoy all my time with that beautiful pup."
